Car repair and the Insurance Agent

One of the most difficult processes that most people will go through is an auto accident. There are so many different situations that occur, and it is sometimes quite difficult to get your car repaired without you having to pay a lot of money. It is important to make sure that you call your insurance agency as soon as possible after an accident. The sooner you get the ball rolling, the better chance you have of getting the money you need to fix your vehicle. With every accident there are stipulations. Many things need to be considered before deciding who is going to pay to repair your vehicle.

The insurance agent is the primary person that you will deal with when you need to get your car repaired. This person will look at the entire situation of the accident, and then the agent will determine how much money you will receive to have your vehicle fixed. In most cases, the agent will give you the specific amount of money that the insurance will pay for the repair. You will then take your car to an authorized repair shop, and the insurance agency will send the check directly to the repair shop. Other agents do it differently and send you the money. Then you will take the money to the repair shop. Each agency has different policies in place, but you need to make sure that you are vigilant to get the money that you need for the repair.

Most insurance agents will work with you to determine exactly who is at fault with the accident. It is important to be as open and honest as possible with the agent. Your truthfulness may help you to get all of the money you need, and it may also help you to keep your rates from skyrocketing in the future. Remember too that every auto insurance policy comes with a deductible that you must meet. Most people have a $500.00 or $1,000.00 deductible. This is the amount of money that you will have to pay. The insurance will pay for the remaining balance beyond your deductible.

It is not always a quick process. If you have chosen the right insurance agency, the process should not take that long. It is easier to press your local agent than it is an online agent, but the process can always be delayed with something unexpected.
